Welcome to Spring! Can you feel it? Spring is the time to plant your seeds of intention. What would you like to manifest in this time of new beginnings?

This week we celebrated my Mom's (60th) birthday and my beloved Grams' (87th) birthday. Here is a picture of my Mom and I in New Jersey. Pretty cute, huh?

The rest and peace of the winter has sprouted some really exciting projects and I am thrilled to share the news with you!

Spring Cleansing with Glorious Greens

Have you packed on a few pounds this winter? Suffered from a cold or flu? Or perhaps just felt sluggish and low in energy? If so, you may want to consider a spring cleanse to help revitalize and reenergize your body, mind and spirit. Eastern medicine teaches us that spring is the time to cleanse the liver and a time to build life-force (prana.) In this article I will give you some suggestions to jump start your spring cleanse.

To begin consider taking a break from sugar, caffeine and dairy. Also avoid all non life-producing oils such as partially hydrogenated oils (trans fats) found in processed foods like Girl Scout cookies, (sorry to burst your bubble) chips, and breads. You will be amazed at how your body is affected by the foods you eat.

You can also try eating lightly after 6:00 P.M. to give your digestive system a break. You will notice that your sleep will improve, you may lose excess weight and you will wake up reenergized.

Eat more leafy green vegetables. Greens are very high in calcium, magnesium, iron, potassium, phosphorous and zinc and are a powerhouse for vitamins A, C, E, and K, and aid in purifying blood, strengthening the immune system, improving liver, gall bladder and kidney function, fighting depression, clearing congestion, improving circulation and keeping your skin clear and blemish free. Are you convinced, yet?

There are many ways to eat greens! Try juicing, steaming or eating greens raw. Some great examples of greens are kale, collard greens, swiss chard, mustard greens, arugula, dandelion greens, broccoli rabe, watercress, beet greens, bok choy, nappa cabbage, red or green cabbage, wheat grass, spinach and broccoli. While cleaning your diet up don't forget about purifying your heart and mind. Throw away negative thoughts and habits that you've been harboring that no longer serve you. Get rid of toxic relationships that drain you and plan to spend a few days this spring getting rid of the old to make room for the new. . . . And remember to enjoy the journey!
